306 - Improving Your Color Vision

Improving Your Color Vision

This week John shares some tips on how to improve your ability to see color and create a color match.

The Drawing foundation has 3 steps:

  1. Line Drawing (shape)

  2. Shading (value)

  3. Color

In this show John is talking primarily about number 3, the “Color” part of the composition.

There are 3 questions to ask when attempting to identify a color in your reference photo:

  1. Is my color too Dark or too Light?

  2. Is my color too Cool or too Warm?

  3. Is it too Neutral or is it too Saturated?

Listen in to find out how to modify your color swatch tests to determine the color you’re looking for.
