300 - Artist Professionalism in Presenting Yourself

In the third installment of their series on Artist Professionalism, John and Barb tackle Presenting Yourself.

Artists often think that they just have to be themselves, and if they're not engaging or entertaining in real life then why should it change online?  There’s a better approach to thinking about how you present yourself to others. It has to do with preparation just like you do most other things in life.

Presenting yourself professionally through photos and videos of your art is a good place to start, but your words are important also. You can post some behind the scenes stuff like sketches or how you create your work so people get an idea of what goes into making it happen.

The way you present yourself can determine how your audience sees you and your art.

So you need to plan out what kind of presence you want to have on any platform and determine ahead of time the key talking points.
